The Fashion Movement: HAUTE Gets a Makeover

Quietly and without much fanfare and hoopla HAUTE the accessory show, the platform exclusively for accessory designers has been re-branded to become HAUTE Accessories Week. The event which has experiences tremendous growth and success since its inception two years ago will again be held at Hunter’s Green Country Club in Tampa Florida. September 6th is the date slated for the main runway presentation; an accessory designing workshop and a boutique shopping event will be incorporated in the 2013 program.

For the past two seasons HAUTE has grown exponentially to become THE PLATFORM FOR ACCESSORY DESIGNERS who desire to show and market their brands in a retail setting. When the event was conceptualized a few years ago the ultimate goal was to make it a week geared exclusively to the accessory designer and the accessories market, focusing on the retail segment. We strongly believe 2013 is the year to do that.

Following up on the success of past presentations, The Fashion Movement will bring another stronger array of designers to the 2013 edition of HAUTE Accessories Week. Prior to the main runway event a workshop teaching how to make various accessories will be held; this will be open to the public for registration. A boutique shopping event where accessory Designers products are available to shoppers is also planned.

Interested Designers please email haute@thefashionmovement.com

We look forward to seeing you at HAUTE Accessories Week 2013.

Scott Durfee and George Medeiros are the creative team behind the innovative brand called Spathose. The transition from fine artists to fashion designers was as graceful and seamless as their unique accessory designs. Their work transcends the realm of ordinary style by forging fine art with fashion, thus conceiving more than an accessory; they have given rise to wearable sculpture. Working with sustainable, organic material infused with an industrial edge, these pieces truly unify their vision for a fashion forward approach to design. Only on the fashion scene for what seems a blink of an eye, they have already made their mark with national exposure and selling in exclusive boutiques from coast to coast.
Like nature itself, ever evolving, their wearable sculpture progress with every new deconstruction, devise, and design to create an innovative attitude that bonds fashion, art, and up-cycling.

"We create unique sculptures from palm spathe (flower pod). The creations are a combination of organic material juxtaposed with an industrial edge. The application of metal: screws, nails, and wire, fashion the pieces, generating their aesthetically distinctive expression, where form does indeed follow function. Containing elements of surprise and jeopardy, the abstract forms are individually created via a "conversation" with artist and medium. These abstract designs, produced from a meticulous method of preparing the "green" material, invoke figurative metaphors with different interpretations from each viewer. Our goal is to create an inner dialogue between art and observer, to stimulate an emotional response. If that reaction differs from our own intention, so be it. The sole objective is to create a channel for communication that inspires an individual to view art and the world with a different set of eyes. We have no hidden agenda, just social commentary, and the desire to awaken, arouse, and inspire people with our art.”

Also Curvy Divas these designers do not discriminate. I had the pleasure of working with them for a photo-spread in the Spring issue of VERTICALTampa Bay Magazine. Their views on size acceptance were refreshing.
